I am an enthusiastic, vigorous, team-oriented music teacher! I will build an outstanding music program, create relationships with the surrounding community, bring parents into your school, bridge gaps between core academics and the arts, keep students engaged, and build school culture between grade levels.
*I believe that it is my job to entice students to appreciate music from an immense variety of sources. I teach music through active listening, singing, movement, and manipulation of instruments to reach all types of learners.
*As an innovative and resourceful teacher, I have taught in a classroom with as many as 45 students and as little as 8. At Believe to Achieve Academy, I created an annual Step Team Competition, a Composer’s Day, world premiered a bucket- drumming piece, participated in Canton’s Light Up Downtown Celebration, and hosted a variety of parent nights. I consider myself one of the liaisons between the school and the surrounding community.
*As a versatile teacher, I have had the opportunity to hold a number of roles within an educational institution including General Music Teacher, Choir Director, Band Director, Fifth Grade Math Teacher, After-School and Saturday Academy Teacher, Reading Tutor, Dance Team instructor, Drum Ensemble Leader, Performer, Leadership Team member, Curriculum Writer, Adjudicator and Private Instructor. Through these experiences, I have been fortunate enough to educate a diverse group of elementary, middle school, and high school students from all socio-economic backgrounds and who functioned on, above, or below grade level.
*I have a great interest in cross-curricular activities. I’ve expanded my cross-curricular interests and have experience teaching third and fourth grade state testing prep for an After-School and Saturday Academy.
*I am a strong advocate for fine arts and music education!
